Hello Old Friend!

I was supposed to get groceries yesterday, but it was a cold, grey day and I just couldn't force myself to leave early because it was really cold, and well it never got nicer and the stores only get busier the later it gets on a Saturday. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really struggling with the change of seasons this year. More than any other year I think. If I don't absolutely have to go somewhere it's sometimes hard for me to make myself.
I had stuff to eat for dinner, like potatoes, lentils and such but what I really wanted was tofu. Like all the tofu. So I did something I rarely do and got delivery. I got spicy lemongrass tofu and it was AMAZING!!
This had big triangles of deep fried tofu in a spicy lemongrass sauce. Since I never deep fry this was the perfect meal to break my tofu fast!
These girls don't help me want to leave when I don't have to. They make sleeping look GOOD! And they're just so much nicer and cooler than most humans!!

  2. I’m with you on the cold killing all motivation, although I’m spoiled that there is a (not very good) grocery store two blocks away.
Glad the delivery was delicious! I am so weird that I really don’t like fried tofu- i love tofu and i love fried things so I don’t get it. Once you replenish groceries i’m sure you can figure out how to make this! Asian groceries sell fried tofu- usually labeled tofu puffs.
Omfg, so i thought of you when i was reading about this stuff called chili crisp which has a really intense cult following. It’s a mix of chilis and onions with chili oil condiment- it’s apparently sold at walmart and of course asian groceries. I think you would be very into it! Accidentally vegan although fyi it does have msg (which is a non issue for me) usually $2-3 a jar

    2. I love getting the tofu puffs at Asian stores! I don't think I'll ever fry tofu at home though. That way it's more of a treat.
OMG I need that chili crisp!! That seems like it was made for me!!

  3. I ordered delivery last winter when it was so cold that the thought of going out frightened me (so I tipped VERY well!). I've found that a few things help with my feelings of distress when what I now consider the "Season of Darkness" descends. Vitamin D really helps and I also try to get some exercise of some kind. But I also think the stores are harder to deal with in the winter because they're a lot more crowded with people. It's weird because surely people eat all year round so I don't know if they go more often when the winter holidays come or if they tend to order endless pizzas or what. So I try to keep my freezer stocked this time of year and hide when I need to.

    1. I definitely need to increase my vitamin D. This year has just been really tough for me to deal with the seasons, and it isn't even winter yet. Yikes.
I definitely need to stock my pantry and freezer a bit more for those days when I need to hide!

  4. Who's missing?? Someone's missing, right? I think I see anti-social Joan in the midst of it all, so it isn't her.

If those were my kitties, I'd wedge myself right into that thin strip down the middle and annoy the heck out of them. But it would be worth it for the cuddles.

    1. Good eye! Afro has a certain spot on the couch that she loves. So she's kind of been Miss Independent lately!
I annoy them every single day for cuddles!

  5. Yay!!! I'm so glad you treated yourself and that it was delicious!! I don't blame you at all, sometimes you just need to stay in and take care of yourself. Sweet kitty pile!

  6. Sounds like the perfect way to welcome back tofu!
I am also suffering with the seasons in a similar way, but with a different season. It is so hot and sunny here all the time now, that my pale vampire skin just can't handle going outside. I just want to hide away in the cool and the dark (or the indoors) because I burn so easily.
