Vegan Everywhere!

I have good and bad news. The good news is that I finally got some fresh produce, the bad news is I got it at Walmart! I choose to not give that company my money, but I was out with a coworker who wanted to stop there, and I needed some groceries so here we are. Honestly, Winco's produce leaves a lot to be desired, and Trader Joe's isn't always the best for my mental health. I won't be shopping here on the regular, but it was okay for a one time thing. I will say that they have the BEST price for Just Ranch and Just Mayo. Under three dollars for the ranch, and under four dollars for a huge tub of the Mayo!!
Cilantro, green onion, green tea, yellow onion, baby spring mix, gold potatoes, vegan redi whip(!!!),waffle fries, black beans, cucumber, baby spinach, just ranch and mayo, peanut butter, yogurt, oats
These are the two stand outs to me. I knew Reddi Whip made almond milk whipped cream, but I had no idea they also made coconut milk. Two kinds of vegan whipped cream in a can by a major non vegan company sold in Walmart!! I never thought I'd see the day!!! And the yogurt! WOW! I tried a chocolate yogurt awhile ago that was terrible. It had such a tang and it didn't go well with the chocolate flavor. But this milk chocolate coconut was divine! I wish I would have bought more because I've never seen this flavor anywhere else! It's like a less sweet chocolate pudding. Thumbs up all the way!
I was going to make fresh spring rolls for dinner but I have spotty luck with those rice paper wraps, and I wanted to enjoy dinner and not be frustrated so I made a spring roll bowl with spicy peanut sauce. I've been eating a lot of heavy foods so this was so refreshing and my body was very happy!
This is the view from the upper parking level at Walmart. I just never get bored or used to all the mountain views everywhere I go!

  1. I have a hard time with Walmart too but I appreciate the fact that they are more vegan friendly. I've been wrestling with it myself because I heard they carry B Free Bread (probably at a lower price) but it's hard to justify it. Your haul does look great and I really want to try that yogurt! I bet it's amazing with strawberries and banana. Your bowl looks INCREDIBLE. I need to get back into the kitchen and get some good meals in me.

    1. I feel the same way. Although I was impressed with their selection and also the prices, I also know those low prices come at a cost an that's why I avoid them. I know I won't go back, but at the same time if I had a family to feed I could see choosing them because life is expensive.
Damn, I didn't know they carried bfree, I didn't even check for it. You're right, the prices probably are AMAZING!!!

  2. There’s something to be said for supporting vegan options at walmart. It’s not my first choice but quite frankly if all stores had their dirty laundry aired I don’t know that anyone would come out ahead.

I had no idea there was such a thing as vegan redi whip!!? That’s crazy amazing! Stores in nyc have such limited shelf soace that there’s a lot we just never get. And that yogurt sounds delicious! I’ll look for that flavor, the silk yogurts are fairly easy to find.
Summer rolls always challenge my patience and coordination, good call on turning it into a bowl

    1. I am gla I was able to show support for them having vegan options. I was happy to see their gardein section was SUPER picked over so that made me happy! I won't shop there again, it was kind of a when in Rome kind of deal. But I agree with you, I know what goes on at the store I work at and it isn't good either.
The bowl was the best decision I made that day. I've always wondered, are spring rolls the deep fried roll and summer rolls are the fresh rolls?

    2. Yes, usually chinese = spring rolls = fried, and thai/Vietnamese = summer rolls = fresh; but the two are often confused on menus so i always ask if the prep isn’t clear. (The fried ones are too greasy for my tummy)

    1. OMG I hope you love it! I know it's a little thinner that traditional yogurt, but the flavor is just so good that I totally forgive it!!

  5. That bowl looks amazing! An excellent dinner.

We just got a new brand of vegan almond yoghurt in the sueprmarkets just yesterday. I bought a strawberry one, and am excited to try it.

  6. I feel weird in Wal-Mart, and I know I pay more not shopping there. That said, I feel a little pang knowing they have vegan Reddi Whip in a can and I have never seen that anywhere. Oh, well. I have CocoWhip! (If I found myself in a Wal-Mart, I might buy a few things. When in Rome, indeed. Actually, my local Target sells a lot of vegan stuff, too, and it probably costs a bit more than Wal-Mart but based on what friends who've worked in both places say, Target treats its employees marginally better, for what it might be worth.)

  7. I remember LOVING a chocolate yogurt flavor- but that was like 10 years ago and I don't think they still make it. I would dip strawberries into it, there was no tang.

Stinks that Walmart is carrying the vegan rediwhip. I mean great to have it be available to everyone, but I don't know anywhere that is selling it in my area right now. *sigh*
