Tea, Food and Cats!

I found this tea yesterday for only sixty six cents! I love the after holiday sales. Groceries are practically giving the stuff away! Despite the fact that it's eggnog flavored and there is an egg pun on the box, it is vegan. And while the flavor doesn't scream eggnog, it has that cozy winter-y holiday flavor!
This was my delicious dinner Tuesday night. I had some daiya shreds that have been in my freezer so long they were almost freezer burnt, so I decided to make some gluten free mac and cheese with  baked tofu and a big old salad. My favorite was a bite with a little of everything. This really hit the spot!
I scored a five pound bag of red potatoes for $1.48 so last night I had potato wedges seasoned with salt and pepper, lots of garlic and of course nooch. I dipped them in ketchup and hp sauce. Delicious!
I got this hilarious picture of Joan and Kiki. They were napping together on the vent.I caught Joan mid yawn and  I love how it looks like Joan is laughing hysterically and Kiki is giving her the side eye!
I spent some time with my door opened yesterday. The kitty not on the blanket is a female who also comes around. She used to be VERY scared of me, now she'll come up to the food when I put it down, but if I move too fast she runs away. They both came in a tiny bit, but then ran out.
This morning I spent about twenty minutes with him in the living room. I tried to get him on Joan's beloved heat vent but he was scared. He ended up going back out, and when I tried calling him back in he just stayed on the blanket outside. We'll try again tomorrow. Do you guys think I should just close the door when he's inside or keep doing what I'm doing? I don't want to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Oooh hooray for post holiday sales! I need to get some more tea in my life. I worry because a lot have citrus peel in it and I'm allergic to it so it's been hard to branch out because everything I want to try has the peel. It's annoying so for now I'm sticking to my beloved spearmint tea. Your meals look incredible and I love the pic of Joan and Kiki! I think you are doing the right thing with the kitty. I would worry about him freaking out and going after someone in your crew. I think that giving him breaks from the cold is a great thing and when he's ready he'll stay. Then again, I'm not an expert at all so take that with a grain of salt, ha!

    1. I know the sugar cookie tea has I think orange peels, this eggnog doesn't say citrus peel, but you probably have to be careful of natural flavorings, whatever the hell that means. I've never had spearmint tea, but I so love peppermint tea!
After today's experiment I think kepping the door open is the best plan. I feel like he'll let me know when he's ready to stay.

  2. Oh kitty!!!! What a cutie. I'm not what the best move is, but it sounds like you're doing the right thing. That mac & cheese looks amazing. I have some freezer Daiya that needs using too!

    1. I think I'll keep going with the door open. I think I'll know when he's ready.
Ha, it's so easy to forget when I have daiya in the freezer!

  4. That picture of Kiki and Joan is too funny -- Joan totally looks like she is cracking up! It sounds like your process with the new kitty is a good one; you definitely don't want to close him in before he's ready, but maybe you could get him used to the idea of having the door closed by keeping it a little less open each time, so he can still leave on his own if he gets scared or over-stimulated?

    1. Thanks for the tip, I tried that today with the door. So far he still wants to go back outside. But I close the door a little more when he comes in. It'sso tempting to just close the door, but I don't want to make him stay against his will.

I am several days behind on blog posts, so I will see how you are going with outdoor kitty once I have caught up!
