Well, I shopped on a Saturday and lived to tell about it. Honestly I barely survived with my sanity and I've realized I need a new day to get groceries. Trader Joe's was so bad there was a line to go down the chip and nut/cereal aisle!! I came very. very close to having a panic attack so I definitely can't do that to myself again.

I used to roll my eyes so hard when my grandma would scroll down the receipt at the grocery store. It was like oh so embarrassing. But, you know what? You have to. When I left Sprouts I felt like my total was more than it should have been. I checked my receipt, and sure enough the apples were on sale for $1.88 a bag, and they rang up and $3.99, and the daiya was buy one get one but the second didn't ring up free. So I went back in and I was overcharged a total of $9.25!! It definitely happens so whether you're on a budget or not, check your receipts!

Look at me, the cauliflower hater buying two cauliflower items! The gnocchi is possibly my favorite Trader Joe's item, and I'm going to use the riced cauliflower for a blended soup and I decided to take a shortcut.
I was drained from the crowds so I opted for a lazy dinner. I had a huge butter leaf salad with two gardein chipotle black bean burgers with avocado and green dragon sauce. I don't get to eat much gardein because of gluten, but the chipotle black bean burgers are gluten free and delicious. This meal hit the spot. I didn't even miss a bun!!

ReplyDelete1. Yes, grocery shopping on Saturdays is awful. I usually swing by on Friday after work or, if I was too exhausted for that, I go after 8:00PM on a weekend evening or on Sunday morning. All of those are slow times, usually. (Well, weekdays during working hours are also slow but I'm also at work and that's how it goes.) I haven't been to Trader Joe's in ages though because it seems to me it is always crowded enough to make me anxious.
2. Once I challenged my receipt at ShopRite because apparently a bunch of stuff was mislabeled. I got $35 back. This is one reason I always use the self checkout. That way I know for sure how everything rings up.
I love early Sunday morning shopping! I wanted to go earlier but I just couldn't get up. Trader Joe's causes a lot of anxiety for me too.

Yes,I think the overcharging happens to everyone at least at some point.I always try and look at mine as well.I see you got the sweet potato chips and hummus together.Those two are like peas and carrots.😀

DeleteI’ve been doing grocery shopping friday nights lately- which is awesome because they’re all stocked up for the coming weekend but not crazy busy!
ReplyDeleteI watch as every last item is scanned before i start bagging my groceries- the market closest to me **constantly** has stuff on sale yet rings up full price but because they’re annyoing and rude and in nyc they try to ring up everything super fast and get you outta there- but if not fixed before they total it then it’s a big pain to go deal with customer service to have them fix it. (I swear this is part of their business model!!)
That veggie patty salad dinner is one of my favorite combos, especially if the patty is hot with the cold crunchy greens

DeleteI think stores depend on people not noticing, or not wanting to take the time to correct it. They probably make A LOT of extra money every year!!
I love that combo too! I'm a big fan of different textures and temperatures in my food!!
So brave! Sunday afternoon is the worst time for shopping here, everyone is doing their huge shops before the week starts!
ReplyDeleteI now always check my receipt if I know there was something I got as a deal. For awhile Mom's Organics was terrible about putting sales through their registers, so I would have to regularly check.
