Groove, Come Back!

I don't know what's going on with me, but I am really having a hard time finding inspiration in the kitchen. Nothing sounds good, and I just am really blocked on ideas. It's really frustrating, usually I have a million and one recipe ideas floating around in my head at once. I finally decided that some homemade tomato soup made with summer tomatoes would be super tasty. I had some of the new FYH American cheese that needed to be used up, so tomato soup and grilled cheese it was. I walked to QFC which is the nearest grocery store to me. They had the worst selection of vegan bread ever! Every single brand of whole wheat bread had honey. The only sliced bread that was vegan was marbled rye, and I love rye bread for Reubens, but not tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Fancy
I decided to try this sourdough loaf with Rosemary and olive oil. It's from La Brea Bakery. It's pretty good. It has a great Rosemary flavor, which I love. Honey is something I choose not to buy as a vegan, but I am quite sure that I have had breads and such with honey while eating out. Anyway, honey seems to be really thought of as a necessary ingredient in a lot of whole grain breads. For a proper grilled cheese, I much prefer hearty whole wheat.
I roasted some tomatoes, garlic, and onions, and blended it up with some tomato paste, added a little water and simmered while I made a grilled cheese.
Tomato soup needs lots of nutritional yeast on top!
I forgot to take a picture of the grilled cheese. I was so hungry, I just wanted to eat!  The soup was just okay. I can tell I am uninspired in the kitchen. The soup had no heart, no flair. Have you ever been in a cooking slump? I hope I pull out of this soon!
Dark chocolate truffle bar with cherries and pecans!!!
I picked up this chocolate bar while at QFC. It is a dark chocolate truffle bar, with cherries and pecans. The texture is out of this world creamy, with pieces of cherries and pecans. The pin is just for decoration. This bar is made by Seattle Chocolates, and it is one of the best dark chocolate bars I've had since the Trader Joe's Dark chocolate bar with pecans and raisins!( Which was just last week, ha!)
I'm going to pick up some groceries today, and peruse some of my cookbooks and old Vegetarian Times magazines and hopefully get inspired again. I thought walking around the produce section would have gotten my juices flowing, but it really did nothing for me. Will I get my groove back?
3 cat pile up!
I always swore I would never ever in my life have a cat tree, and here I am, I actually have two! It's funny how life changes things. I guess never say never can be true! There is a ton of crow activity going on in those big trees, and also people take their dogs to go potty underneath the trees, so lots of activity for the nosy kitties!
Happy Caturday!
