Another Haul!

I saw this video this morning, and I found it to be very uplifting.  The food looks delicious, I love that the people trying the food are very open to vegan food, and I love the chef/owner. What an inspiration. And (spoiler alert) I love that based on how delicious the food is, and how amazing the chef looks, that guy says he would consider going vegan! I know it takes all kinds of activism, but I really feel like leading by example, and serving food that is undeniably delicious, we can really change some minds. To me, it feels much more productive than talking about and judging people's weight, and their vegan food choices. Anyway, this video gave me the warm and fuzzies, so I thought I would share.
Produce from Trader Joe's

I decided to go with lots of produce, (there's more that didn't make it into the picture!) so if I continue to feel meh about cooking, I can just eat Raw! The yellow things by the frozen mango are some kind of  plum and something else hybrid, I just can't remember what the other thing is. I also got another plum and something hybrid.  So far every pineapple I have bought at Trader Joe's has been amazing. Sweet, and juicy and perfect. I struggled with getting delicious pineapple in PA. so this makes me so happy!
Hi Animal!
I finally remembered to get their Vegan Tikka Masala, and I will think of Vegan In The VI when I eat it! I also got what might be the most amazing thing ever. They combined Speculoos cookie spread with chocolate! And it's vegan! Which might be bad for my waistline.
Where have you been all my life?
This stuff is amazing. It's sweet, and rich, and chocolate and Speculoos really compliment each other. I would like to experiment with a million recipes with this stuff, but if I'm being honest, I think this will be eaten mostly with a spoon, right out of the jar. I don't know which sweet has blown me away more, the Daiya cheesecake, or this spread.
I also decided to try their Soyrizo, which was only $1.99! I am much more willing to try things when they are under two dollars! The really bright red color scares me a little, even though I know it's paprika and such, it just looks kind of scary. I'm thinking I might sautee some with some potatoes or something. I also got some Trader Joe's Tahini sauce, which I'm going to spice up and try to recreate their delicious red lentil wrap. If you've never had it, I highly recommend trying it. It's red lentils and green cabbage wrapped in a lavash wrap, and served with this spicy tahini dipping sauce, and it is one of my favorite wraps I've ever had.  I guess Trader Joe's did inspire me a little bit!
Have you tried Trader Joe's Cookie spread, or the Cookie and Cocoa swirl spread?

  1. I have tried Trader Joe's Speculous Cookie Cocoa Swirl Spread and stopped buying it. After 3 jars of this delicious creamy stuff, the novelty wore off and I haven't bought this item again in over a year. It is a fantastic combination and great for an uplifting sugary treat, but it can be very addictive. I think it's still a great product, enjoyable by the spoonful, or more likely, spoonfuls :-)
