Liquid Dreamsicle

You guys, this flavor is seriously out of this world! It tastes like a dreamsicle, everyone's favorite concession stand treat at the community pool! That was always the one time I could have treats that didn't involve carob as a kid. My mom would give me a little money before we went to the pool, and I was allowed to get what I wanted. The concession stand was also my first experience with soft pretzels not made out of whole wheat. Anyway, this was a very refreshing treat yesterday. I seriously can't recommend this kombucha enough. I had coupons, so I got the cola flavor that I will be trying today. I never was a huge cola fan, but it's a flavor I haven't tried and I love all the other flavors so much. I will definitely report back!
I found this non vegan channel on YouTube that makes a lot of potato videos. They made a video for cottage fries which I had never heard of. They're called cottage fries because they look like the roof of a cottage. You just slice the potatoes in circles about 1/8 of an inch thick. I cooked them exactly how I cook regular fries. I seasoned these with garlic powder, lemon pepper and smoked paprika. They get nice and crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Circles may be the new wedge for me! The real star of this bowl is the dipping sauce. I combined Just Mayo with green dragon sauce. Um, can we say amazing? It's creamy and a little spicy, perfect!! This dip will definitely be a regular on this blog.
Speaking of Just Mayo, I was waiting for my bus yesterday and the stop was in front of a Big Lots. I've only been in a Big Lots once in my life, and I had some time to kill so I went in to see what they were all about. They had the big vat of Just mayo for $2.50!!!!! I didn't get one because I had just bought one at Smith's, and I thought I got a deal paying $4.50! To be honest I'm kind of regretting not getting it and just stashing it away. I think when I get groceries on Saturday I might pop in and see if they still have some jars left.
Don't mind the gross baconnaise next to it. If you have a Big Lots near you, check it out sometime. They have lots of condiments at really great prices. I am a condiment queen so I'm always looking for deals. I also saw La Croix sparkling water for super cheap, and they had a whole gluten free section with pastas and crackers. Also they had quinoa for a steal, even sprouted quinoa, which is usually a lot more. I was so tempted to get some, but I have no luck cooking quinoa. I fail every single time. I have watched tutorial after tutorial and I always end up with a mushy pile of mess.
Last night as I was winding down, Joan won the coveted spot on my lap, and Roxy tried her best to dethrone her. It didn't work, and so Roxy kind of laid halfway on my lap, and they kind of held paws. I love it when Joan is in a cuddly mood!!

  1. We had a BigLots here for a few years and I LOVE LOVE LOVED it! There were a lot of world foods there that I didn't find anywhere else and some of them naturally vegan! I miss our local shop. The one in Jamestown has been a hot spot for shootings so I try not to go there. The last one I went to was before Christmas in Buffalo and we did a bunch of holiday shopping there. I enjoy BigLots!!

  2. Yes, I noticed they have an international section at this one too. I'll definitely be going back.
Yikes for public shootings at a Big Lots! I would definitely avoid it too!

  3. Yes, Big Lots is great! They have awesome deals!! I've seen Bob's Red Mill stuff there for really great prices. I'll have to go back at some point soon and see if they have anything fun!

That kombucha sounds delicious and refreshing! I really need to see if I can get my hands on it. The only places that they carry it on Long Island are a bit of a hike but I'll see if I can find it. The cottage fries look delicious and I love the fur baby pile :D

  4. I have really been missing out with the Big Lots! I also like that they always carry different stuff, so it's kind of like thrifting, you never know what to expect.
I really hope you can find the Live kombucha. I think you'll like it. I couldn't believe how tasty the orange dream was!

  5. Love me some Big Lots. We have a stretch of Route 1 in Milford where I can hit the Bed Bath & Beyond World Market (for their international foods), Big Lots, Ocean State Job Lot (same kind of thing as BL) and Goodwill all in one evening to stock up on stuff. I love all the unique/international foods you can get at great prices. I buy my avocado oil at Ocean State because it's about 75% lower than the grocery store price.

So I checked the BL flyer online and they have "summer condiments" on sale this week for $2.50 each - which must include your vegan mayo. Yay. I'll be hitting BL tomorrow!

    1. That sounds like my kind of stretch, the value stretch! I saw so many condiments that are usually pretty pricey like fancy mustards, and they even had organic ketchup for like $.99! I'm definitely going to become a regular at Big Lots!!

  8. Those are some gorgeous cottage fries! Whenever i go out for breakfast i like to get home fries, which are usually in cubes and seasoned well, the outsides get crispy. Have you ever made crash hot potatoes? They're crazy popular for a reason, i like to use little red potatoes for them. Just ask The Google for a recipe, stupid easy too.

    1. I like home fries too. I think I prefer home fries to hash browns to be honest. Cottage fries are pretty much home fries but just a different shape.
When I get either red potatoes or some Yukon golds, i am going to make crash hot potatoes, those are right up my alley!!!

  9. !!!! That is such a steal! Sometimes it pays to check out those type of places. I don't have the patience most of the time. XD But I use to check out Homegoods and try and get good deals of protein powders and stuff. They had really good deals and awesome ethical brands!

    1. Going to places like Big Lots kind of reminds me of thrifting. You can't have any expectations, and you never know what you're going to find. And it's different every time you go in.

  10. We don't really have any places like that here. That I know of, anyway. And all 'specialty' vegan products here are two million dollars anyway, so I consider myself lucky to get something on sale for one million dollars. I may have exaggerated that last part. ;)

    1. That's too bad that you don't have places like Big Lots or other discount places. It's fun to find deals, and I always feel braver trying new things when they don't cost an arm and a leg.
