Afro Was my Co-Pilot

Beautiful, lush
Peace out you beautiful, twisted, expensive city
Afro!
I just wanted to pop on and say that I made it safe and sound! We arrived Thursday morning. My internet was connected and working by Friday, but in one of the universe's twisted jokes, it fell out of one of my Trader Joe's bags in the trunk of Derek's car, and didn't make it in the rental van!!!!!! So, on Friday when he got back into Seattle, he tried sending it overnight, but they don't do that on the weekend!!!! So, on my first weekend in a strange, new city I had no internet access! And I have no idea about the buses, where is a library, etc. All things I was going to Google all day Friday. Because life likes to make jokes, I can't access google on my phone. I updated something that totally changed everything about my phone. This is where it's so dangerous to be a tech simpleton. Anyway, I am exhausted because I rode the bus for the first time today, got lost, milled the streets crying, not like a ladylike cry, like snot coming out of your nose cry. I stopped at a 7-11 to ask directions, and the lady offered to give me a ride when she got off work! I figured it out though, and like I said, I fully expected to get lost half a million times. I will be back tomorrow morning with so many details of my trip, so many pictures, and also CAT pictures!

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone in getting lost! It's so freaking scary. I've been carrying around my address on a piece of paper like a little girl!

  2. I'm so happy to hear you made it & how sweet that Afro sat up front with you! :) That really sucks about not being able to get online and then getting lost (I definitely would have been overwhelmed & crying, too!), but that's awesome that you figured it out eventually. Before you know it, you'll learn where everything is & hopefully it'll start to feel like home!

    1. Today I'm venturing downtown to find a job, and a bank. I'm also going to try to locate a Sprouts market. My goal is to do a little bit every day until I'm somewhat familiar with the bus system, and how to get around.

  4. Glad to hear from you again. Getting lost can be scary. I remember getting lost a few times in Philadelphia and being in some rough areas and getting a little nervous. Or worse- my friend took a wrong turn on his bike and ended up on a major highway. o___o Glad you figured out where you were and even met a nice stranger.
