Another Budget Vegan Haul

This is my Sprouts market haul I picked up yesterday. I got spinach, cilantro, radishes, bulk Jasmine rice, bulk sea salt, blueberries, 4 mangoes and 3 limes. All for the bargain basement price of five dollars! I used my rain check for the mangoes so I got four for a dollar! Even the cashier commented on how much I got for five dollars! I think some people think Sprouts is expensive, and for some stuff they are, like the vegan meats and cheeses but those are expensive anywhere. But they have some really great deals on produce. They have other great sales too, especially when they have their 72 hour sales. The blueberries were fifty cents!
Gluten free pasta, lentils, bananas, Harissa paste, lemons,2 onions, tofu, light coconut milk, cannellini beans

My Trader Joe's haul was fifteen dollars, and I got ten pounds of potatoes for $2.99. I discovered that the grocery near Daisy and Ivy's house sells ten pounds of spuds for cheaper than my usual spot. So I got all my groceries for under twenty five dollars! I might spend the other five dollars later in the week, or I might see if I can make do on what I have.
I've never had Harissa paste, and I'm really excited to try it. I always look at it when I'm at Trader Joe's, and this week I finally decided to try it. Tonight I'm going to make a cream sauce with almonds, and add some of the Harissa and serve it with some gluten free Penne.I can't wait to try it.
I saw this sign when I was walking Daisy and Ivy yesterday. I've never seen this sign before, and I hope that changes. I also hope people pay attention and think when they see it.
I caught Kanye unrolling the toilet paper this morning. It usually happens at night when I'm asleep, and I always assumed it was Joan because she is kind of the naughtiest of all my girls. That's Afro's tail in the picture. She's having a drink from the sink like you do.
I wanted to thank everyone for the support and kind words. I can't even put into words how much it means to me. My heart is so heavy and it aches in the worst way. Time does heal some wounds, but not all wounds. Whoever said that is a liar. I'm doing my best to cope, and some days are easier than others. Wednesday will definitely be a very hard day for me. But again, thanks for the kind words, I need all I can get.
Happy Caturday!

  1. Wow!! What a great haul in general, never mind for that price! What great deals you are able to find. Everything looks really fresh too.

I don't know why animals love toilet paper so much. One time when I was baby sitting the fur children I forgot to close the bathroom door and there was toilet paper EVERYWHERE! It was crazy.

You'll get through this <3 You are so strong to be able to come out on the other side of everything you've been through. I know it will be hard but we are all here to love and support you!

  2. Great hauls and awesome deals! I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Harissa paste; I've seen recipes that mention it, but I've never tried it before.
Thankfully none of our kitties like to play with toilet paper, but I did take your idea of putting down some packing paper for them to play with, and they've really enjoyed shredding it, haha!
    Hugs! <3

  3. Bless your heart. You are right, whoever said that time heals all wounds is a liar. They fade in time, the thoughts and feelings fade but they never go away. I'm still dealing with something horrible that happened over six years ago, closer to seven actually. I go through the day just fine, then something happens to take me back there and it's like I have PTSD, it's crazy. But it has gotten a lot better over time. I hope this gets better for you too.

Kayne looks so cute unrolling the toilet paper! I would be having a hard time deciding between scolding her and hugging her, lol.

Great haul! Wish we had a Smith's here. I just have walmart, Aldi and Dollar Tree with a smaller health food store about five miles away and other stores, Natural foods and Whole foods about forty miles away. I do have to brag though, the smaller health food store manager actually ordered a different daiya for me recently. So I can't complain too much about not having places to shop.

Love that sign! I wish more people would have them.

  4. Time heals nothing. I know that well. Sending many hugs. Maybe we can get through it all together?

You get the best deals on food ever. Even if I found things on 'sale' in the supermarket, that produce would still have cost so much more. Australia is so expensive.

    1. Brenda - that bread recipe looks pretty cool, actually. I think I might try it and I'm not even gluten-free.

  7. If you do please let me know. I'm going to try it as soon as I get some red lentils. I'm trying to eat lower carb but miss good pita bread with my hummus.

  8. Wow! You scored pretty big! I would be so happy finding a pint of blueberries for 50 cents.

Now have you tried that amazing Caramel Ginger Popcorn from Trader Joe's yet? It's beyond amazing. And that price is awesome. :)

  9. $5 for all that?! Incredible. Great action shot of Kanye. Toilet Paper and Paper Towels are super expensive down here, they are kept out of paw reach.

  11. Bulk sea salt?! Sounds crazy- but I guess makes sense. MOM's Organics sells bulk pasta, I should see if they sell gluten-free pasta to compare prices for grins.

  12. Great sign! Great deals! I've been pretty out of it lately, too, with depression and such. LOTS going on. I'm trying to snap out of it. Easier said than done.
