I went to the store that I love to hate, Whole Foods yesterday to get more FYH Blue cheese, and of course got a few additional things. I'm saving the rest of my haul for MidWeek munchies tomorrow. But these samosas deserve their own post. These are vegan of course, and full of natural ingredients that you can pronounce. And they use unbleached wheat flour which I really appreciate. I am not a fan of bleach. They come in two packets with four samosas in each packet. The directions say to bake for twelve to fourteen minutes, mine took around ten. I constantly give Whole Food flak, so I feel like I have to give them praise when they deserve it. These are amazing. I have only had samosas one or two times in my life, and I might have been/probably was drinking, so I am no samosa expert. But to my untrained tongue these things blew my mind. The peas actually still have some color and texture, and the potatoes are perfectly cooked. And the flavor is amazing. If you are spice sensitive, don't worry. I had to douse and dip mine in sriracha! They just have the perfect curry flavor. Curries are something I struggle with cooking. I always add to much or too little, and so I always appreciate the perfect balance. They baked perfectly too. Crunchy, flaky pastry and soft creamy potatoes and peas inside. What can I say, Whole Foods totally nailed this one. Only $2.99 a box too!

Although I don't go to Whole Foods often, when I do I will buy these again. I think these would be a hit at any holiday party, or sports party. (Super bowl?)

I had to leave you with the angelic side of Chunk. He's pretty mischievous, but also so dang cute and sweet! I think this was taken shortly after he had knocked several things off of the counter, attacked my laptop, and done one other annoying thing. He was a tired boy.
Happy Tuesday!
I never had WF's Samosa's, but tried TJ's and dont recall being too impressed. Even bought the Chutney but it went to waste.
ReplyDeleteI read a review in one of the alternative papers in Seattle on different Trader Joe's frozen finger foods, and they gave their samosas a big thumbs down. I've never tried the because of it, but these were really excellent. I would for sure buy these again.
DeleteI'm sooooooooo into Samosas again...can't get enough of them!
ReplyDeleteI already want more!
DeleteI should try these! I have a lot of indian supermarkets near me so I like to get my frozen samosas from there. But that price is pretty dang cheap!
ReplyDeleteI was really surprised by the price. I don't usually look for deals at Whole Foods. I really liked them, and I wish I would have bought two or more boxes!
DeleteIf you get the Whole Foods 365 brand things can be pretty cheap! I remember defending whole foods for a long time when I lived in Philadelphia and in general groceries were more expensive. But I think the price of your whole foods will depend on the area you live in too.
DeleteI do give Whole Foods a hard time, but I did get a great deal on some organic kale, and a new o me apple called opal. I think it's more of a store to get some things, maybe not your whole shopping list.
