Hummus, Booch and Kitties Oh My!

My favorite, in a bigger container! Zoinks!
I had to try this smoked black bean hummus!

Chunk and A Chai
These are some new to me goodies I've tried recently. The creamer of course is an old favorite, but I found a bigger container, which is super exciting. Although I was supposed to be weaning myself off the black tea, but whatever. I saw this smoked black bean hummus and had to give it a whirl. It's pretty good. I like the smoky flavor, it's there, but subtle. I slathered some of the hummus on a toasted baguette and made a veggie sandwich with avocado, lettuce, and cucumber. Here is their website if you're interested. They seem like a pretty ethical company. I saw their hummus salad dressing somewhere recently. I might have to try that sometime, if I can find it again.
The Third Eye Chai was recommended to me by the produce girl. I've been tempted to try it before, but in all honesty GT's is not my favorite of the kombuchas available, and I wasn't sure how Chai and kombucha would tatse. It tasted like chai, with that kombucha edge. It was better than I thought it would be. Will I buy it again? Probably not, but I'm glad I tried it, and for people who do love GT's this is probably a hit.
Oven fries with cracked pepper A1 sauce for dipping. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would want to ruin such a perfectly delicious condiment with a piece of dead flesh. A1 was made for potatoes in my humble opinion.
I'm going to brave the Ballard Farmer's Market today. I say brave it because crowds are so not my thing. I have vivid memories of hating crowds since I was a little itty bitty. I miss the days when Farmer's Markets weren't trendy. I know it's great for farmers that it has gotten trendy, but it makes it super hard for us veg and fruit loving introverts. But, I have been in a cooking slump for quite awhile. I really love to cook, and I love to create my own recipes, but lately I struggle with ideas, and like I said inspiration. Hopefully this trip will help.
I have two cute kitty pictures to share, because I totally forgot about Caturday yesterday! How could I? You'll notice both pictures involve Kanye, who likes to crowd her way into everyone's space!
I'm going to get a fine from the crazy cat lady club for forgetting Caturday!
Happy Sunday!

  1. It is so great how your cats love each other. Mine all keep respectful distances and, even if they didnt, would quickly break up any cute poses before I could get a pic. The Fries look fantastic.

    1. There are a few grumps in the group that keep it from being a total kitty hippie love fest! It is soooo hard to get a picture of cats. That's why so many of mine are when they're sleeping.

  3. Awww Kitties!! How cute are they?! I've never seen the caramel creamer, that sounds delicious! Where do you find it? I've never been able to get into kombucha... The taste isn't terrible but the chunks really freak me out.

    1. I have seen the caramel creamer at QFC, and Safeway. It is seriously the best creamer I've ever had, vegan or non.
The chunks in kombucha make me gag too. I'm gagging just thinking about it. If you ever want to have the benefits, try Kevita brand. Absolutely no chunks or weird gloopy strands. The citrus flavor tastes like sprite!
