Just Stuff
I stopped at Harmon's yesterday for some cat food, and did my usual perusing for any "Last Chance" sales which sadly there were none, but I did finally see the new labels for some of the Hampton Creek products. I swear I am the nerdiest because I got super excited and had to take pictures. I like the new labeling, but I liked the old labeling too. If you haven't tried their mayo or ranch, you're really missing out. I love dipping oven fries in their chipotle mayo.
I was going to make my more cauliflower less cashews Alfredo last night, but while riding the bus home I got a sudden craving for lettuce wraps. Luckily for me I had some iceberg lettuce, leftover tofu and a super ripe avocado! Butter lettuce is my favorite for lettuce wraps because it's so tender and flexible, but iceberg gets high points for being sturdy, and you gotta love that nice cold crunch!
I made a dipping sauce that might sound weird, but it was lick the bowl dry delicious. I just combined the gyoza sauce from Trader Joe's with some sambal olek and sweet chili sauce. It was perfect!!!
And here is Joan fast asleep on her throne. Life is perfect for her because she has it all to herself, no pesky friends to tolerate! Just enough belly is showing that she did get a bugging from me after I took this picture!

Not too weird licking the dipping sauce. I like to lick the spoon when measuring miso. So salty and yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love doing that with miso too!
DeleteI am so hungry for a salad today. I just don't have the ingredients. I might need to find a store that is open.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone has a nice 4th of July. Friends have invited us for a picnic. So not much cooking for me today. The weather looks like a beautiful day.
Salads have been tasting so good this summer! I hope you had a wonderful day!
DeleteYour lettuce wraps sound great! Joan on her throne -- too cute! :D
ReplyDeleteThey were so good! Joan has definitely staked her claim on the red chair!
DeleteI'm going to have to try lettuce wraps. Never have before but you make them sound awesome! Tried the cauliflower recipe, used wing sauce and he loved them! Big thumbs up. I don't know if I will ever get him to go meatless but I'm going to keep trying. I saw those new labels in Walmart this morning too. I wish the Walmart here had the Just 1000 dressing. I usually end up just making my own but it's nice to have the option of a ready made one sometimes. Joan is a such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI love lettuce wraps. I always love any meal that involves eating with my hands and dipping!
DeleteThat is soooooo amazing that your husband loved the wings!!! Never say never, and at least he's having some meals that are vegan, and the more delicious food he tries, the more open he'll probably be!
It is nice to have a ready made option. They're Just 1000 is really tasty too.
Oooh those lettuce wraps look so amazing! I bet that lettuce was definitely refreshing. I didn't see the new labeling yet! It's weird, the first place I saw the dressings was at Target but the last few times I went they didn't have it. I've noticed it other places though, thankfully. I love how much Joan is loving her throne :D She's so cute.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was reading about their new labeling, I found this article talking about Target removing their products which I found really surprising!!!http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-target-hamptoncreek-20170628-htmlstory.html
DeleteJoan looks so satisfied on her chair, with the little tuft of belleh poking through. Your cats ate generous with their belleh displays!
ReplyDeleteI really hope we can get Just Mayo here one day!
She loves her chair so much! They are generous with their bellehs! Especially in the summertime.
DeleteI hope you can get Just Mayo too. It seriously is the best, especially their Just Ranch!
I finally found the new labeling on the ranch at whole foods co-op in Erie!! I grabbed it - it was on sale. I'm seeing the brand pop up more locally, too, at least the mayo, I just hope additional products soon follow!
